Frequently asked questions.

What is your child-to-teacher ratio?

According to licensing, ratios are 5:1 for ages 16 months- 2, 8:1 - for 2-year-olds and 10:1 for 3/4 -year olds. We abide by the ratio of the youngest child in the classroom. At Frog Pond, as a Conscious Discipline School, we strive to keep small ratios as much as possible. We strive to always have 1 more teacher than required by licensing to ensure smaller group sizes and a more intimate way of learning for our children.

What classroom would my child be in?

At Frog Pond the classroom of your child does not solely depend on the age of your child but also the social-emotional readiness of your child in conjunction with their age.

How much time would my child spend outside?

As a nature-based school, you can expect your child to spend the majority of the day outdoors. The children begin their days outside and only go indoors for specific weather concerns, indoor breaks, and nap time. Otherwise, the children are outside connecting with nature, exploring their natural world, and learning through play.

What are indoor breaks?

We understand that sometimes, children need a break from being outside such as in hot/ cold weather. Due to this, classes take indoor breaks where the children can warm up, cool off, and/or regroup.

What weather would you stay inside for?

At Frog Pond, we believe in bad attire, not bad weather. We allow our students to experience all types of weather. Yes, we play in the rain. We abide by wind chill, air quality, and “feels like.” If the weather is deemed unsafe, we will be indoors.

Will my child have access to bathrooms throughout the day?

The 3-year-olds and up have outdoor potty stations where they always have access to the restroom. Our younger children go indoors in small groups throughout the day to do diapering and/ or potty training.
