Current Staff 

In addition to being an wonderful place for children, Frog Pond is also a great place to work. Our staff is made up of individuals representing a variety of cultures and ethnicities. The teacher/administrative retention rate at Frog Pond is very high, as we celebrate a diverse, safe and nurturing place to grow as a teacher and childcare professional.

FP_Gail_2014Gail Dickert, our Executive Director, partners with the Management Team, families, and local community supporters to uphold the mission, remain fiscally responsible, and engage in fundraising, volunteer strategies, board development, teacher training, and capacity-building projects aligned with Mother Nurture Company. Gail joined the Pond in August 2010 and has served as Director of Operations and Director of School Family before accepting the Executive Director role in 2013. Her extensive background in non-profit engagement through the American Red Cross and faith-based organizations, combined with a deep sense of community and love of nature and children continue to inspire her to champion Frog Pond as “The Natural Choice for Early Childhood Education.”

Mary Morse, our Director of Curriculum,  guides the Teaching Teams towards age-appropriate enhancements of “Bev Bos-style” play and follow-through of Conscious Discipline. Mary also manages new family orientation and oversees daily center management. Under her leadership, Frog Ponds maintains a diverse classroom environment and highly evolved techniques for working with all children in our natural world.

Mark, our Frog Teaching Team Lead, implements the Frog curriculum, for the older mixed-aged group of children and is supported by seasoned co-teachers. Mark joined the Pond in August 2013 and stands out as a vibrant leader and communicator among his team and in relation to the families.

Yashoda, our Tadpole Teaching Team Lead, implements the relationship-based Tadpole curriculum, for ages 16 months – 3.5 years and is supported by seasoned co-teachers. Yashoda’s tenure with the Pond began in 2003, where she worked in the Frog Classroom for 7 years. She returned in 2015 for a leadership role among mixed ages where she thrives as an enthusiastic model for the children and other teachers.

“Science Sarah” is the on-site Naturalist for science and nature curriculum.  She incorporates seasonal changes into the topics of study.  She enriches the science and nature curriculum as she accompanies the classes in walks in Huntley Meadows Park. Sarah has been a part of the Frog Pond for over a decade, serving as a living encyclopedia for nurturing and understanding our native plants, animal, and insect behavior. With a specific emphasis on Coyote’s Guide to Connecting with Nature, Sarah’s role is to fulfill Frog Pond’s founding principles regarding our relationship with the natural world, which are based on indigenous wisdom.

Janel, our Manager of Operations/Facilities, is on-site for operational stability in the classroom and on the grounds. She is also provides tours to prospective families and supports community engagement projects  She incorporates her years of Frog Pond experience and marketing skills to support new and prospective families in learning more about our unique approach to early childhood education. Janel joined the Pond in 2010 and continues to find creative ways to solidify the school’s success.

Awatif, our Food Services Manager, has been with the Frog Pond for almost 12 years. She is relied upon for effective management of our kitchen procedures, where food from Good Food Company is prepared for our children. She also oversees preparation for our two healthy, organic daily snacks and is consistently providing feedback regarding allergy sensitivities at our inclusive center. Awatif is the “morning face” of our school and often refers to Frog Pond as her “family away from home.”
