Tadpole Tuesdays: Water Wheels

Today we would like to wish a very happy birthday to a Tadpole!

This morning the Tadpoles read a book about sailboats with Ms. Subohi.
They discussed how water travels down the stream. Ms. Subohi made paper
boats and the children put the boats in plastic containers of water to see
how the boats would float in a stream. On the art table, the Tadpoles had
fun building and playing with play dough. In the media table, the Tadpoles
used their sense of sound to shake snake shakers to make music and snake
sounds.

In the front room, the Tadpoles used their fine motor skills to put
together wooden blocks and trains. They also enjoyed playing with puppets
and dressing up in dresses. Some children played with tools while others
read books. In the back room, the children put together legos and others
played on the spinners and with the dollhouses.

Outside, the Tadpoles learned how water travels when poured with Ms.
Yelena. They had a blast pouring water into water wheels in the outdoor
media table. They watched the wheels spin and we talked about how water
pushes the wheels around. We also talked about how the water traveled down
and the force of the water caused the wheels to turn. When a lot of water
was poured fast the wheels would spin fast as well.

Some children also played in the outdoor houses and enjoyed swinging with
Ms. Angelica. Others played in the sand with shovels and buckets. Some
Tadpoles also went to visit and pet the goats. At Toad Mountain, some
jumpers tried to catch butterflies. Others played on the swing and slide
and some played “hungry, hungry hippo” with the frogs by chasing one
another similar to a game of tag. The swimmers enjoyed making different
kinds of cakes in the sand and bringing over water to put in the sand box.

It was a fantastic day at Frog Pond!

Sincerely,
Ms. Yelena
