Tadpole Tuesdays: Fabulous Fishes

This morning, the Tadpoles learned about sand animals and fish with Ms.
Subohi. They read, “One is a Snail Ten is a Crab” and counted the number
of feet on each animal. They also read, “Fabulous Fishes” and learned
about all different types of fish. They talked about how crabs live in the
sand and fish live in the water. The children also dug around and searched
for shells in the sand in the media table. At the art table, Ms. Shemu
helped the Tadpoles glue scales on a picture of a large fish.

In the front room, the Tadpoles used their fine motor skills to play with
wooden blocks. The teachers also helped them use wooden alphabet letters
to put together different words. Some children also helped put together a
large floor puzzle by finding and matching up the pieces. In the back
room, the Tadpoles enjoyed playing with doll houses and reading books.
Some children also played around on the slides and spinners.

Today some of the Tadpoles went to Huntley Meadows with Science Sarah and
Ms. Yelena. They saw spiders, frogs and birds, and listened to crickets
chirping in the grass. Some children enjoyed walking on top of a large log
with Science Sarah’s help. They also had a great time running and noticing
the trees sway in the wind. While some Tadpoles were at Huntley Meadows
the rest of the class had an outdoor lesson with Ms. Subohi. They
pretended to be crabs and other types of fish. Some children pretended to
walk like crabs and they all talked about how many legs they would need to
have. The Tadpoles also helped Ms. Subohi to empty out more sand into the
sandbox using the slide and some children played in the water in the media
table.

At Toad Mountain, the jumpers used butterfly nets to chase and try to
catch some butterflies. Some jumpers also searched for bugs and toads
around the yard and had fun playing on the swing set. While the jumpers
were at Toad Mountain, the swimmers continued helping to take out sand
from the bag and put it in the sandbox. They also enjoyed bringing water
from the media table to the sand and playing with toy cars.

It was another fun-filled day at Frog Pond!

Sincerely,
Ms. Yelena
