Today the Tadpoles pretended to take a trip to the beach! At the indoor
media table they played with dry sand. The children learned about what
they would see and hear at the beach with Ms. Subohi. They listened to
seashells and touched feathers to their faces. Some children also made
pictures in the sand.
In the front room, the Tadpoles built and stacked together legos. They
also played pretend in the kitchen and by dressing up in different
clothes. In the back room they threw around soft balls and pretended that
the balls were actually snow. They also spun on the spinners and went down
the slide. At the art table, the Tadpoles used scissors to practice their
cutting skills by cutting out pictures from magazines.
Outside, some Tadpoles went to Huntley Meadows with Science Sarah and Ms.
Yelena. They saw squirrels run and climb on trees and frogs in the pond.
They also saw birds eating out of bird feeders and even found a spider
with her eggs. The children who stayed at Frog Pond had a water lesson by
playing in the sprinkler. Ms. Shemu helped set up the sprinkler and the
children enjoyed running through it and getting wet. Some children also
made castles in the sand box. The Tadpoles also went to visit the goats in
the goat yard.
At Toad Mountain, the jumpers helped the frogs to put together pieces of
cardboard using tape. Other children played on the monkey bars. During
this time, the swimmers continued to play in the sprinkler with the water.
It was an exciting day at Frog Pond!
