This is Ms. Yelena. I’m really excited to be writing my first daily and to
be working with all of the swimmers and jumpers in the Tadpole class! I’ve
had a great first week and looking forward to many more to come!
This morning, the Tadpoles read a book with Ms. Heather called, “It’s Much
Too Hot!”. They talked about how it gets hot in the summer time, and
different ways to cool off when this happens.
In the front room, some Tadpoles played with train tracks while others
played with babies. They held the babies and put them to bed. Some children
played in the kitchen and sat and ate a pretend breakfast using various toy
food items such as a banana, hamburger, and juice.
At the art table the Tadpoles practiced cutting magazines. At the media
table they played with flowers and butterflies. Some children lifted the
butterflies in and out of the media table, as if they were flying.
In the back room, the Tadpoles danced with the teachers. Some tadpoles
jumped off the mats and also did somersaults. They really enjoyed running
and jumping around.
On Friday, three tons of sand were delivered in two large bags. Outside, the
Tadpoles used chalk and drew on the large bags of sand, to see what other
items weigh one ton. They had the idea to draw a dinosaur, elephant and a
lion. Ms. Diana and Ms. Yelena helped draw the animals and the Tadpoles
colored them in with different colored chalk. The children also tried
pushing the bags of sand and learned that we could not move the sand because
it was too heavy. This helped the children understand how much one ton
Overall, it was a great day at Frog Pond!
