Frog Fun: Summer Songs

Before Morning Meeting Rover told the Frogs that EVERY one of them are on his team.  He told Frogs that his team tries to do as many helpful things as possible.  Rover told me to keep a list of how many helpful things we can do as a class.  I ended up writing at least 10 ways that Frogs were being helpful to one another.  Examples included sharing, passing paper, and asking others to join in play.

Today at Morning Meeting Frogs learned the other lines from the Summer Song we started to learn yesterday.  Here are the lyrics to song which is sung to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star (taken from Preschool
Education):

Bubbles floating all around,
Bubbles fat and bubbles round,
Bubbles on my toe and nose,
Blow a bubble…up it goes,
Bubbles floating all around,
Bub,,,bles fall….ing to….the….ground.

Afterwards one group of Frogs went to Huntley Meadows with Science Sarah and Ms. Kim.  They walked to the halfway point to the Wetlands, where there is a huge tree that has fallen.  Frogs took turns walking on the trunk.

The other group of Frogs sang songs with Ms. Bani and me (from Preschool Education).  Two of the songs were summer songs to the tune of “I’m a little teapot”.  We sang “I’m a little fish” and “I’m a little bubble”.

Frogs built some airplanes and trains out of the wooden crates at Toad Mountain.  They also climbed on the monkey bars and took turns on the swings.  One group of Frogs practiced singing songs from a lullaby book.
They learned it so well that they tried to teach it to the Jumpers!  I saw the Jumpers listening intently to the Frogs and some tried singing it too.
I also took a group of Frogs and Jumpers to our garden so we could water the plants.

Some centers today were patterned wooden blocks, International Puppets, and Play-doh.

Sincerely,
