At Frog Pond, we don’t trim back the branches on our trees, unless it becomes a safety issue. We want nature to be accessible to children of all sizes. We want them not only to be able to see the abundance of natural elements around them, but also be able to experience them with all senses. And so, our branches hang low … so the children can see up close, smell, touch and hear. Sorry, no tasting!
An observant young one noticed a little fly hanging off a seedling. He was quite curious about why it was there and why it wasn’t moving. He wondered if it was sleeping. The following day, he returned to the tree to check on the fly and noticed that there were several more. He was eager for Science Sarah, our dedicated science teacher, to arrive so that he could share his findings and learn more about why the flies were there.
